Integrated Probabilistic Target Ranking
The challenge
On a frontier shelf there are few wells and every new data point is expensive. The question is where the evidence supports drilling and where it does not.
The work
North Kara Sea, 2018–2023. Regional data of 32,300 km of 2D seismic, 600 km² of 3D seismic and 15,800 km of gravity-magnetic surveys were brought into one geological model, together with satellite-imagery interpretation of island outcrops and field expedition data.
Planning and supervision of the first shallow stratigraphic drilling campaign on the Russian Arctic shelf added 10 wells and 300 m of core, followed by laboratory research on core and 835 rock samples. New geophysical information grew by 82%.
The work increased target intervals from 10 to 18, grew the prospect resource base by 57% and identified 7 new prospects.
